Here is a list of some of the top ranked safest SUVs according to the tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The IIHS has awarded the 2016 Acura MDX 2016 a Top Safety Pick + rating. This three-row luxury crossover has earned a good recommendation for its safety measures whereby, in the case of an accident the driver’s and the passenger’s risk of experiencing any severe injuries is minimal.
According to the crash tests conducted, the dummy’s movements were well restricted and the frontal, side curtain and side torso airbags deployed to cushion the driver and passenger from any serious injuries. The Acura MDX also earned a superior 6 point rating according to the IIHS for its optional forward collision warning system and its optional collision mitigation braking system.
Other standard safety features in the 2016 Acura MDX Models include antilock brakes, a driver’s knee airbag, a rearview camera, LED daylight running lights and a vehicle stability assistant, which has traction control. According to the crash tests, this stylish crossover had a good rating in crashworthiness and a superior rating in crash mitigation and avoidance. The tests indicated that the driver and the passenger would experience slight chances of obtaining severe injuries during a frontal crash.
This low risk of suffering severe injuries during a collision is as a result of the side airbags, the frontal airbags and the torso airbags which held the driver and passenger in place protecting them from the side structures of the vehicle, during the tests.
Other standard safety features in this model include anti-lock brakes, rollover sensors, Electronic Stability control, Knee airbags for both the front passenger and the driver, and daytime running lights.
